Ray Ashton

Ray enjoyed a successful career spanning over 20 years in medical research for SmithKline Beecham specialising in microbiology and virology. He was a member of the team that developed and brought to the market Famvir an antiviral for managing herpes infections. During his more than 16 years medical agency experience, he was publishing Editor for The International Multiple Sclerosis Journal and lead writer/editor on the MS Forum, an initiative working with key international opinion leaders to develop educational items on MS for healthcare professionals. MS Forum annual monographs were used as part of a Masters course in MS run by Leeds Metropolitan University, UK. Ray has experience of many therapeutic areas including virology (herpes, HIV), microbiology, neurology, diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease and oncology.

Ray graduated in microbiology specialising in virology and obtained a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (secondary school science) from Kingston University. He is a Fellow of the Society of Biology and a chartered biologist.
